Job Description

The Baldwinsville Central School District is seeking a registered nurse for a full time, 12 month position (8 hours per day) to support all Baldwinsville school buildings including St. Mary’s Academy and Word of Life Academy in Baldwinsville, NY. The registered nurse will float between all school buildings and two private schools during their scheduled work time to meet the student and staffing needs of the district.  The registered nurse will service the district’s extended summer school program and summer enrichment camps as location allows.

Districtwide, the registered nurse will assist with the following duties to include but not limited to:

• reviewing New York State required immunizations for school attendance- entering, following up on in process students and student mandated exclusions. Contacting parents/guardians by phone, email and letter. 

• requesting New York State required physical exams by mail, phone call and or emails to parents and guardians and document accordingly. Providing assistance to parent/guardian in finding primary care providers or identifying places to obtain immunizations and physical exams within the specified time frame to meet NYS requirements and prevent exclusion from school.

• compiling student data for summer camps, school sponsored events/field trips and summer school to ensure all proper alerts, orders and documentation is gathered. 

• providing support and assistance in reviewing and clearing student athletes for interscholastic sports, as well as, students participating in visual and performing arts programs.

• providing support for the opening of health offices and reviewing new enrollment paperwork

• conducting New York State required school screenings as time allows in other district health offices for those students in need.

Job Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications as defined by Onondaga County Civil Service, which includes holding a valid NYS license as a Registered Nurse and CPR/Adult & Pediatric AED certification.
