Job Description

Seeking an experienced food service director to plan and direct the operation of the school lunch program in eight school buildings with a student population of 5400.  Successful candidate develops the annual school lunch program budget and establishes and maintains budget control procedures.  Establishes accounting procedures and maintains and/or supervises the maintenance of financial records.  Plans school menus working within current USDA meal pattern regulations.  Coordinates the purchase of food, supplies and equipment including arranging for delivery and security, preparing bid specifications and purchase orders, maintaining records, and recommending the purchase or replacement of equipment.

Selects, trains and supervises school lunch personnel, determines staff assignments and evaluates work performance.  This is a 12-month position and candidates must currently hold the School Lunch Director title or meet Civil Service requirements of the position.  Competitive salary dependent upon experience will be offered along with a comprehensive benefit package. Anticipated start date July 1, 2022.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with a major in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, restaurant management, hospitality management, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or related fields and two (2) years of supervisory work experience, or its part time equivalent, in **large scale food preparation consisting of a variety of changing menus; OR

  2. Bachelor's degree in any academic major and State recognized certificate for school nutrition directors and two (2) years of supervisory work experience, or its part time equivalent, in **large scale food preparation consisting of a variety of changing menus; OR;

  3. Bachelor's degree in any academic major and at least five (5) years of supervisory work experience, or its part time equivalent, in **large scale food preparation consisting of a variety of changing menus.

  4. Bachelor's degree in any academic major and at least five (5) years of experience in *management of school nutrition programs

  5. Associate's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with a major in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, restaurant management, hospitality management, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or related fields and five (5) years of supervisory work experience, or its part time equivalent, in **large scale food preparation consisting of a variety of changing menus.
