Assistant School Transportation Director

Assists the Administrator in the operation of a school transportation program. Determining efficient routing technique and time schedules; Initiating continuing follow-up procedures to update bus routes throughout the year; Determining eligibility of students for transportation; Interviewing prospective drivers and mechanics and making recommendations for hiring; Oversees driver training, orientation and evaluation programs; Ensures compliance with government mandates pertaining to school bus operators including contract carriers; Provides transportation services for field trips, interscholastic athletics and other special requests; Supervises the safety programs and their formulation as well as employee driving safety records; Acts as the transportation safety and accident investigator; Supervises and directs a comprehensive program of school vehicle maintenance and repair; Maintains necessary records involving payroll, personnel, material costs, equipment and parts inventory, etc. Responsible for the preparation of reports on all aspects of school transportation; Requisitions supplies and equipment; Prepares specification for equipment and supplies, reviews bids and recommends appropriate purchases; Acts as liaisons with the public as well as outside agencies; Responsible for timely and courteous replies to inquiries and complaints from parents and school administrators; Reviews state aid forms and contractor billing against mileage and maintenance records; May drive a school bus.

The Job Coach will work at specific job locations training students with disabilities in a work/study program.  You will train student(s) in proper employee behavior and how to perform worksite tasks.  Act as liaison between school district and employer.  Identify weaknesses in student(s) as employees related to employment skills.  Complete paperwork as assigned.  

Summer Peer Coach will work with students with disabilitites assisting in all areas as defined and at work/study programs.

Custodial Worker (Substitute Positions)

Performs routine manual work involving building cleaning and general labor tasks. Under immediate supervision, an employee in this class does routine manual work requiring efficient performance of repeated building cleaning tasks. All work is reviewed and specific instructions are given on each new assignment by a superior. This position involves no supervision. Does related work as required

 TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

 Scrubs, mops, waxes, sweeps, and polishes floors.

Utilizes manual cleaning tools and mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and mechanized floor cleaners.

Dusts and polishes furniture.

Washes windows, blinds, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures.

Periodically cleans and washes various high areas such as ceiling light fixtures and room ventilation apparatus.

Moves desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment from place to place as directed and prepared building facilities for organizational activities and special events.

Changes light bulbs and makes minor adjustments to light fixtures.

Changes filters on HVAC equipment and makes minor adjustments.

Collects and disposes of paper and rubbish.

May operate and clean refuse incineration equipment.

Refills soap, toilet tissue and paper towel containers.

Loads and unloads delivery trucks, transports supplies to proper areas, assists in the handling of bulky or heavy articles.

Washes outside windows, polices outside property to keep free from trash and refuse.

Cuts grass, rakes grass and leaves and maintains landscaped areas.

Clears snow and salts walkways, driveways and parking areas.

Food Service Helper (Part-time & Substitute)SBFS 23 24

The work involves assisting in preparation and serving of food, cleaning kitchen equipment and other light manual tasks incidental to the preparation of food in a school cafeteria.  This is routine work, performed under direct supervision, consisting of food preparation and service such as preparing foods for cooking, placing food on trays and serving.  Depending on the area of assignment, an employee in this class may participate in cooking food.  However, cooking food should not be regular or recurring function of an employee in this position.  Assignments from supervisiors are continuous and specific in nature and finished work is reviewed by inspection and observation of results obtained.  Does related work as required.

Positions range from 2.75 -3.25 hours per day, typically during school lunch hours (9:45am - 1:00 pm).  Position follows the school calendar and is a ten (10) month position.

School Nurse Substitute

Perform professional nursing services at our school district in the maintenance of acceptable health standards, school health records, and the emergency treatment of student and employee health problems.  Under general direction, an employee in this class is responsible for giving care to students and for performing related nursing services such as pupil health appraisal and follow through and communicable disease control requiring specialized judgement and skills.  8 hour work day.

Alternative Instruction Teachers 2023 20242023 24 HINS

The Baldwinsville Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for Alternative Instruction Teachers for the 2023/2024 school year.  Interviews will occur monthly commencing August 2023 through mid-May 2024.  The rate of pay for Home Instructors is $45.00 per hour.  Alternative Instruction is provided to students with either medical restrictions or for suspended students which require instruction outside of the school setting which is of an equivalent nature to that provided in the student's regularly scheduled classes.  Alternative Instructors work closely with school counselors and teachers of record during the period of alternative instruction

All applicants are required to provide college transcripts and proof of teaching certification(s).  Fingerprint clearance will be required if hired.

Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, a minimum of 10 hours of instructional time per week for elementary (PK-6) at the elementary level and fifteen hours per week at the secondary (Grs. 7-12) level is required.

The Baldwinsville Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for per diem substitute teaching placements for the 2023/2024 school year.  Interviews will occur monthly commencing August 2023 through mid-May 2024.  The starting rate of pay for certified substitute teachers is $145.50 per day ($159.00 per day after 20 days; $166.00per day after 40 days).  For retired teachers (any NYS Public School District) the daily rate of pay for the 2023/2024 school year is $173.00.  Non-certified substitute teachers working toward certification will be paid $126.00 per day.  Non-certified teacher who have been awarded a Bachelor degree earn $116.00 per day.

The Baldwinsville Central School District continually seeks qualified candidates for substitute teaching assistant placements throughout the 2023-2024 school year.  Interviews occur monthly commencing in August 2023 and continuing through mid-May 2024.

The starting rate of pay for certified substitute teaching assistants is $17.50 per hour; uncertified substitute teaching assistants is $18.50 per hour.  

Applicants must also prove NYS Education Department fingerprint clearance and require Board of Education approval prior to commencing employment.

Teaching Assistant assignments 2023 20242023 24TchAsst

Full time, probationary assignments as a Certified Teaching Assistant are available at various UPK-12 school buildings throughout the Baldwinsville Central School District for the 2023- 2024 School Year.  Applicants must hold either NYS Certification as a Teaching Assistant (Level 1, 2, or 3) OR NYS Certification in any of the Teaching certification areas.  

Teaching assistants may work with an individual student or groups of students.  Teaching Assistants work in tandem with the classroom teacher(s) to provide and support educational services.  Assist students with specific health related activities as appropriate.  When working with students, employees may be required to perform or assist in student's personal hygiene, feeding, and use of assistive devices (e.g. wheelchairs).

Rate of Pay is not negotiable and will be paid at $18.93 per hour on a salaried basis ($27,447.00) per school year.  NYS Teachers' Retirement System Pension, District Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription benefits are available.
